SmashBox Photo Finish Primer Water Review

I have never been the biggest fan of primers. I just never found 'the one' that felt right on my skin. I have rather normal to dry skin and really dislike the texture of many primers. Many of them have that silicone texture which just does not sit right with me.

I am a much bigger fan of primers that provide moisture to the skin. I used to LOVE the Lorac AquaPrime and although I do not own it, I think I would be a lover of the TooFaced Hangover Rx primer because they both provide a more hydrating feeling.

When I heard Smashbox released a Primer Water, I was all over it. I love sprays such as MACs Fix Plus and the fact that a product was created to apply to the skin before makeup that would help your products last longer and provide a refreshing boost of moisture made me a happy makeup junkie. The spray bottle makes application a breeze. Not only that, but it's a sanitary way to apply a primer as well. The pump distributes plenty of product with just a couple of sprays and the mist is nice and even so you don't have to hold the bottle at different angles to make sure your entire face gets covered. The mist of product feels so refreshing. It's an instant sensation of freshness and hydration to the skin. After letting the Primer Water set for a little while your makeup has a nice sheer canvas and application is really nice. The formula is made with out alcohol, oil, or silicones so it's suitable for all skin types :)

The spray can be used a couple of ways to ensure your makeup is locked in place. I personally could use this stuff all day long, especially with the warmer months approaching. You can use this as a true primer and spray it before your makeup, you can use it as a setting spray OR you can use with as a refreshing mist just to add some hydration to your skin.

The Smashbox Prime Water also leaves the skin with a tacky feeling after a few seconds of application so it provides a base for your makeup to adhere to.

Have you tried the Smashbox Primer Water?

Maybelline Full N Soft Review

I have tried a fair amount of mascaras but I always come back to this one.
Maybelline's Full N Soft is a great everyday mascara. I think this mascara gets some negative attention because it doesn't provide much volume. I don't need much volume but if you are looking for a mascara for a dramatic look, or a night out I would suggest investigating one with more intensity.

Maybelline states the benefits of this mascara are:

• Builds full, healthy-looking lashes without the brittle feel
• Prevents loss of lashes with Quick Dissolve System that allows easy mascara removal

• Advanced thickening formula with Vitamin E helps to soften and nourish lashes
  • No clumps, no globs
• Contact lens safe and hypoallergenic
• Washable, also available in Waterproof formula

The only bullet point I cannot comment on is the one about contacts since I do not wear them.
However, as you can see from the photo below, this mascara definitely provides a very healthy, natural looking lash. My lashes never feel brittle at all. I do not find flakes of mascara under my eyes throughout the day. My lashes never get clumpy, no matter how many coats I apply. Because this mascara leaves your lashes so soft, it is easy to re-apply throughout the day if you feel you need an extra coat.
This mascara is also very easy to remove, unlike my Maybelline Mega Plush. After using my cleanse off oil there is very minimal mascara left under my eyes that usually comes off after I cleanse with my foaming cleaner. I never need to tug with towels or cotton pads to wipe the remaining mascara away.

Overall, this mascara is my HG everyday (work, shopping, lunch with friends) mascara. I have repurchased this over and over again and probably will for a while!

What's in my Makeup Bag?

Hello girls! Today I am going to share with you what I keep in my makeup bag. These are essentials that I need with me if I know I am going to be out of the house all day.
I use this VS makeup bag - it's a decent size to hold all of my things :)
First things first, powder...

Mac Careblend Powder - There are two things that I must carry around with me. Powder is one of them. I recently switched to the Mac Careblend powder which is much more travel friendly than the MAC MSFN which is another powder I love. The Mac Careblend powder comes in an enclosed case with a mirror and puff. It gives a very natural finish providing light to medium coverage depending on application.
Garnier Tinted Roller Ball - The other essential product I must have with me is THIS concealer. ALWAYS This has been a HG product of mine for the last year or so (will do a proper review of it). I always have this with me if I feel I'm looking tired. It brightens the under-eye area instantly.

Maybelline Full N' Soft - my all time favorite Mascara. I can apply this throughout the day with out brushing through dry crusty mascara that result in clumpy lashes

Spot Concealer - recently I have been carrying around the NYX HD photogenic concealer. But I do have a few on rotation in case my concealer wears off throughout the day.

Rimmel Special Eyes Pencil Eyeliner - For nights when I go out I always carry black eyeliner. I use Rimmel's Pencil liner. I feel I need it to intensify a look even more throughout the night.

Nars Madly - My perfect blush that obviously has had enough love. Madly is a dusty rose shade. When it's applied lightly it gives a really nice warm sheen. If you have a heavier hand it can give you a non-overpowering bronzed glow.

Lipstick - I always carry with me whatever lipstick/gloss combo I have at the moment. However, I always have Mac's High Tea lipstick on me. It's the perfect shiney nude lipstick for me and it goes with a variety of looks! I have also recently been carrying with me my Revlon Lip Butter in Creme brulee

Mac Ricepaper e/s - this is a shimmer nude that if I feel I need it, swipe across my lid (with my finger) to brighten up my eyes

Kabooki - For my powder foundation I always use my Kabookie brush - I get nice coverage with it and it's the perfect size for my makeup travel bag!

Bare Minerals The Shining Moment Luminizer

Happy Sunday. Hope all of you can relax a bit today and have gotten all of your shopping done for those that celebrate Christmas!
Today I am sharing with you The Shining Moment luminizer from Bare Minerals. It is a Limited Edition compact highlighter. There are 2 of these, the other shade is called the Love Affair. The difference is the undertones. While A Love Affair gives a peachy glow, the Shining Moment is a more golden champagne highlight. I have yellow undertones and I love golden highlighters so that's why I chose The Shining Moment.

Bare Minerals states "SeaNutritive MineralComplex, this silky smooth formula delivers incredible skin-nourishing benefits" I haven't been using it long enough to notice any benefits so I won't comment on that but I can say this is a lovely highlighter. The best way to describe this is that it gives your face a nice candlelit glow. It is very finely milled so it almost crumbles to the touch.
The first few times I used this I applied it with a fan brush which gave a very subtle highlight. If you want a more intense highlight you can use a fluffy eyeshadow brush.
I would definitely reccomend this product if you are a highlighter junkie. It was selling for $26 on a few websites including beauty.com and the Bare Minerals site but I just noticed yesterday that it was selling for $20!

Have you purchased this Limited Edition Highlighter?? Will you snag this LE product before they run out?!

Revlon Lip Butter Creme Brulee

Hi girls! I'm going to try something a little different today that I may continue on this blog!
I'm going to review a makeup product. A little change of pace, but change is a good thing right!?
Prior to NicNacksNails I was an avid beauty blogger but for whatever reason deleted that account. I am slowly getting back into makeup products which isn't looking to good for my wallet.

The lip product I am going to share with you today is the Revlon Lip Butter in Creme Brulee.
Lip products and blushers are probably my favorite products to look experiment with.
I saw this product used in a youtube video and wanted it instantly.

First things first, the packaging is really cute - each lip butter has a faux quilted cap and a black bottom.
The product itself is really lovely. Creme Brulee has sheer to medium coverage and has a nice warm tone to it. It's a great everyday nude. It reminds me of a very light cinnamon shade.
The only negative about the lip butters is the staying power. I find myself applying this product quiet a bit however, it won't stop me from using or purchasing!

Do you have any Revlon Lip Butters? Which one is your favorite?
