Top 10 Polishes of 2012

Okay, there are 2 more days of 2012! Today I am sharing with you my favorite polishes that I have purchased or tried this past year. Not all of these polishes were released in 2012:

KBShimmer Diva A gorgous indie purple glitter!

OPI On Her Majesty's Secret Service Released this year with the OPI Skyfall collection. A really unique slatey blue shade.

Zoya Yara - the most beautiful green I own - a nice army green with golden shimmer

Zoya True Zoya's spring collection release some real winners this year. While I did hope for more shimmer, it still was a pretty purple!

Zoya Sylar - My final zoya favorite this year and another one from their spring collection. Skylar is a pale blue with flecks

Revlon Colorstay Passionate Pink - I really enjoy the colorstay polishes - this one is great for summer

Nailventerous Floam - not quite a glitter but it sure is an awesome polish 

Color Club Angel Kiss I have 3 more to try but omg angel kiss is perfection!

A-England Dragon This was my first A-England holo. I heard a lot about their polishes and can finally rave about how amazing their holos are!

Dollish Polish Spank You Very Much - another indie glitter - a nice mix of blue purple and green!

These are in no particular order, just a few polishes that stood out in my stash this year!

Color Club Halo Hues - Angel Kiss

It's been too long since a mainstream nail polish company came out with holographic polishes as gorgeous as the Color Club Halo Hues. This is only one of 6 beauties from the collection. I bought 3 more but have not had the chance to swatch the rest of them.

This Halo Hue is called Angel Kiss - it's a seafoam, almost mint green linear holographic. 

Honestly I don't think there is much I can say about this polish - it is literally leaving me speechless. I mean LOOK AT IT!

Born Pretty Store Gold Square Stud Rhinestone Review

Hello girls! I am really excited about todays post. A few weeks ago a lovely lady named Daisy from Born Pretty Store contacted me to see if I would be interested in reviewing a product for them. I jumped at the chance. I had visited their site before and was really impressed by all the different nail art goodies they had to offer. Their prices are also extremely reasonable and their site offers free international shipping!

After perusing the born pretty store's website a little I finally decided on trying the gold square stud rhinestone. I have never used a nail art quiet like this but these 2mm gold square studs are AWESOME. They add a great edge to your nails. 

The studs come in a pouch that zips shut and there are PLENTY of studs in each bag. The application of these studs is really easy. After applying a couple coats of polish to your nails just simply take a toothpick or an orange stick, dab some top coat on the point and grab a stud with the point and apply the stud to where you'd like on your nails. When you are finished applying the design you want add a thick coat of top coat! You can also check out a video tutorial on bornprettystore's youtube channel.

To create my first design with these studs I did a dual polish mani using Colorclub's Snakeskin and Wet n' Wild's Black creme. I then added a vertical line of studs down the center of my nail. I love the idea behind these studs. They can really take an ordinary manicure and make it something fun and edgy. Another plus is that the studs have great longevity. The studs stayed on for a couple of days (even with a lot of use of my hands). 

Overall, I think these studs are a great product - they are easy to use, have great wear time, are really cheap, and make your nails look great.

Color Club Holiday Splendor

So this holiday season I went from having about 3 greens to about 15 greens.

I added Color Club's Holiday Splendor to my collection a few weeks ago while Christmas shopping!

It's a gorgeous green holo glitter with a green (not clear) base.

I put 2 coats over one coat ChG Four Leaf Clover.

In real like it is a bit more of a true Kelly Green

Walking in a Winter Wonderland

Only 11 days left until Christmas and I have all of these Christmas mani ideas running through my head!

I took another shot at a freehand Christmas manicure. Unfortunately, the only nail art brush I have was a bit

too thick for the snow flake I attempted. I just purchased some brushes at Sally's today though!

For this mani I used NYX Ink Heart as a base color and dotted on some snow with Color Club's Alabaster

My right snowflake turned out a little bit better

China Glaze Peachy Keen Tape Mani

Hey everyone! Just posting a quick swatch/tape mani before I get lost in my Global Communication reading!

Today I have on China Glaze's Peachy Keen - a true creamy peach!

I'm not a big fan of the half moon mani so I did some white V's!

This was actually one of the more frustrating tape mani's I have done!

Nubbin Swatches

Some more swatches on my nubbs (which need to be reshaped badly so please excuse some of the unevenness!)

This is one of my favorite summer polishes. Color Club's Pure energy is a vivid, electric blue with a hint of shimmer. I bought it because it was a dupe to China Glaze's Towel Boy Toy which I might still pick up! Pure energy was not the smoothest application but it looked pretty decent in 2 coats.

Also on the nubs this past week was China Glaze's Sea Spray. I have swatched this on here before but with White Cap (LOVE) over it. Sea Spray is a Very pale blue grey with slight shimmer.

I also hadn't used Sally Hansen's Hidden Treasure in a while so slapped some on over Sea Spray :)

NOTD: China Glaze White Cap

I went through about 4 mani's in 2 days this past weekend. I was unsatisfied with EVERYTHING I came up with.

I finally ended up with something pretty simple.

I did 2 coats of Color Club's Alabaster

and 2 coats of China Glaze White Cap

White Cap is one of my favorite nail polishes. It looks great over pretty much ANY color.

Someone mentioned it looks really pretty over plain white so I decided to try it!

Unfortunately, it was a gloomy day so I couldn't take pics outside to

capture more of the gold flecks that show!

Blue Nails for Autism Awareness

The other day on twitter @ColourCoated (check out her blog here)

asked if anyone was interested in participating in a Blue Nails for Autism Awareness project.

April 2nd is World Autism Awareness Day

Everyone is encouraged to wear blue in order to raise awareness, encourage early diagnosis and early intervention and to celebrate the lives of those that we care about who have autism.

A family friend of mine has a 6 year old boy with autism, and with my love for blue nail polish

I had to participate!

Throughout the month of April I will do a series of Blue Nails for Autism Awareness month.

For my first Blue mani I have incorporated China Glaze's For Audrey, a very pale blue.

I was inspired to do this mani after Steph's Closet St. Patrick's Day tutorial

This is my first attempt at a plaid mani and while it took a while, I think

it came out decent. Mind you, photographed is my left hand & unlike many of you

that is my dominant hand!

I was shocked my lines came out as straight as they did considering this was done with my right hand!

Here are the products I used. Some of the stripes were done with Sally Hansen's Nail

Art Pen. Without this baby the mani probably would have been a disaster!

Most of the hotizontal lines were done with a striper from The Icing.

Color Club Fashion Addict

Since the sun was out today and the weather is the warmest its been in ages I had to do a holo.

Color Club's Fashion Addict is probably the prettiest holo I own (however, if I owend some of China Glaze's OMG's it would be a different story). 

I have had this untried for a while & worried that it might be a dud, but even in artificial light its gorgeous!

& since I can't seem to keep my nails with just polish anymore, I had to add a BM.

This is BM19 with Black Konad Polish

I am thinking about doing a small giveaway if I reach 50 subscribers.

NYC Manhattan

Unfortunately, I have no St. Patty's mani to share with you today.

But I do have one of my favorite vampy burgundy shades.

This is NYC's Manhattan and it amazing!

2 coats gets your this really pretty berryish color, and 3 gets you a really

great almost black vamp shade. Application was super smooth

and the wear was really decent.

This is my only NYC color but it has me wanting more !

I stamped it with some Color Club Fashion Addict (BM10)

Its really subtle but I really like it.
