The best glitters in life are free...

Happy Hump day everyone :) I have a quick swatch for you tonight. I am meeting family out for dinner in a few.
The other night I was in a rush to get ready and didn't want to leave my house naked....my nails of course. I slapped on one coat of Zoya's Reagan polish and added a glitter that I received in a swap for free! It is a LA Color Craze glitter. I cannot find the name of the color for the life of me!

Revlon Lip Butter Creme Brulee

Hi girls! I'm going to try something a little different today that I may continue on this blog!
I'm going to review a makeup product. A little change of pace, but change is a good thing right!?
Prior to NicNacksNails I was an avid beauty blogger but for whatever reason deleted that account. I am slowly getting back into makeup products which isn't looking to good for my wallet.

The lip product I am going to share with you today is the Revlon Lip Butter in Creme Brulee.
Lip products and blushers are probably my favorite products to look experiment with.
I saw this product used in a youtube video and wanted it instantly.

First things first, the packaging is really cute - each lip butter has a faux quilted cap and a black bottom.
The product itself is really lovely. Creme Brulee has sheer to medium coverage and has a nice warm tone to it. It's a great everyday nude. It reminds me of a very light cinnamon shade.
The only negative about the lip butters is the staying power. I find myself applying this product quiet a bit however, it won't stop me from using or purchasing!

Do you have any Revlon Lip Butters? Which one is your favorite?

OPI Thanks a Windmillion + Glitzerland w*BornPrettyStore Gold Studs

Happy Friday! Did all of you Americans enjoy your Thanksgiving? I definitely did :)
Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday and I had lots of family and friends over to celebrate with.

I didn't do a very festive mani for Thanksgiving but it was a pretty one. I used OPIs Thanks  a Windmillion from the Dutch collection and free handedly added a Stripe of Glitzerland down the center. I also added some of the BornPrettyStore gold rhinestone studs in the center of the stripes. I was a little leery because I though they might get lost in Glitzerland but that didn't really happen.

That was it for my short post today. I am going to brave the mall with my best friend, sister and mother!
Have a great weekend :)

Color Club Halo Hues - Angel Kiss

It's been too long since a mainstream nail polish company came out with holographic polishes as gorgeous as the Color Club Halo Hues. This is only one of 6 beauties from the collection. I bought 3 more but have not had the chance to swatch the rest of them.

This Halo Hue is called Angel Kiss - it's a seafoam, almost mint green linear holographic.
Honestly I don't think there is much I can say about this polish - it is literally leaving me speechless. I mean LOOK AT IT!

Did you purchase any of the Halo Hues? Which one is your favorite?

6 Essential Nail Products

Hi girls. I though I would do a post on my favorite products to get a perfect manicure.

I'll begin with cuticle care. I despise cutting my cuticles so I use a gel remover. My favorite is the Sally Hansen Instant Cuticle remover.

After I apply my treatment (I use Gelous nail Gel which I forgot to include in the photo :o) I apply Orly Bonder. It's a sticky base and really helps your manicures last longer
Three and four go hand in hand. My favorite acetone to clean up my manis with is the beauty secrets acetone which can be found at Sally's Beauty Supply stores.
#5, my favorite top coat, probably needs to further introduction  or explanation - Seche Vite. Not only does SV dry quickly but it give the nails a super glossy shine.
My final essential nail product is Biotin. Biotin is a B vitamin that helps with hair and nail growth. Biotin is also good for those with brittle nails.
What are you favorite nail care products?

P.S. I started a NicNack's Beauty Box blog so check in out!

NYX Manhattan + Red Angel Stamping Plates Review

Happy Friday! Hope you all had a great week and are looking foward to the weekend. I know I am :)

A couple weeks ago I received the 21 piece Red Angel plates from Amazon. These are another affordable bundle set of great image stamping plates floating around the nail blogging community. The Red Angel Stamping plates can be purchased on Amazon for 12.99.

My biggest concern when it come to stamping plates is the size of the images, for full nail designs especially. I own the first Bundle Monster kit and the images were way to small for my nails. My nails are a bit on the wide side. The Red Angel dimensions are very comparable to the Konad and 2nd and 3rd BM sets.

I am really pleased with the Red Angel Plates. They don't contain the same ol' same ol' images that you see on most of the sets. They have some unique designs. Here is one that I have already tried out:

I stamped Orly Luze over my favorite fall polish: NYC Manhattan

I look forward to using these and sharing the RA plate designs with you!

Born Pretty Store Gold Square Stud Rhinestone Review

Hello girls! I am really excited about todays post. A few weeks ago a lovely lady named Daisy from Born Pretty Store contacted me to see if I would be interested in reviewing a product for them. I jumped at the chance. I had visited their site before and was really impressed by all the different nail art goodies they had to offer. Their prices are also extremely reasonable and their site offers free international shipping!

After perusing the born pretty store's website a little I finally decided on trying the gold square stud rhinestone. I have never used a nail art quiet like this but these 2mm gold square studs are AWESOME. They add a great edge to your nails.

The studs come in a pouch that zips shut and there are PLENTY of studs in each bag. The application of these studs is really easy. After applying a couple coats of polish to your nails just simply take a toothpick or an orange stick, dab some top coat on the point and grab a stud with the point and apply the stud to where you'd like on your nails. When you are finished applying the design you want add a thick coat of top coat! You can also check out a video tutorial on bornprettystore's youtube channel.

To create my first design with these studs I did a dual polish mani using Colorclub's Snakeskin and Wet n' Wild's Black creme. I then added a vertical line of studs down the center of my nail. I love the idea behind these studs. They can really take an ordinary manicure and make it something fun and edgy. Another plus is that the studs have great longevity. The studs stayed on for a couple of days (even with a lot of use of my hands).

Overall, I think these studs are a great product - they are easy to use, have great wear time, are really cheap, and make your nails look great.

You can order these studs  here for under $6! The BornPretty Store also provided me with a 10%off code to share so you can get a discount on your order. Just include the code RLL91 at check out.

What do you think? Will you be using the gold square rhinestone studs for your next nail art design!

OPI On Her Majesty's Secret Service Skyfall Collection

Well, week 2 o the aftermath of Sandy brings us about 5 ft of snow in New Jersey! Crazy I tell ya. I got a snow day out of it so I am bring you a swatch of one of OPI's Skyfall Collection colors:

On Her Majesty's Secret Service is a slaty grey/blue base packed with green, gold, and blue shimmers.
It really is an interesting polish and it's amazing how all of the swatches I have seen on the internet are different. On some people's skintones it pull more purple, others more grey, and some more blue. I will probably play around with this polish a lot more, maybe do some layering experiments.

Orly Monster Mash

Hey everyone! My life is slowly getting back to normal. I got power back yesterday. My job is still without electricity but we are working limited hours off of a generator.

I am posting my Halloween mani a little late. Unfortunately,

I did not have the time to do some crazy nail art but I did pick up Orlys Monster Mash a few weeks ago and thought it was appropriate.
I layered it over Wet n' Wild's Black Creme and OPI's Greenwich Village.

Monster Mash has a green jelly base with green he glitters micro bars and these tiny glitters with a lot of sparkle!

Thanks for reading!

P.S. If anyone knows how to get rid of the footer in your blog could you please share. For some reason my side bar is at the bottom and my layout is totally messed up. Your help would be greatly appreciated! Becca at Horcrux Nails suggested shortening my name up at the top, I tried that but it did not work. (Thanks for that suggestion though :)!)

Update: Hurricane Sandy, color club, red angel, and more goodies

Hello girls! I'm posting from my phone because I am still without electric and Internet from Hurricane Sandy. I'm actually waiting in line for gas as I type this !! I was very fortunate during the storm. I had two large trees fall down, none on my house though. A few towns over from me though got completely destroyed .. It's truly heart breaking.

Hopefully my house will be up and running sometime this week - a lot of people in my town already have power. I thought I would just pop in to say hello and share some of the exciting things I have to share with you in my upcoming posts

While on instagram a user was kind enough to share that transdesign has restocked on the color club holos so I ordered 4 of those. I'll post photos when I can upload them. I also ordered some dotting tools and Red Angel plates from Amazon which I am really excited to use. I also have a parcel coming from the Born Pretty Store Remember there is a code specifically for my readers so you can get 10% off your next purchase. The code should be in the side bar but for some reason my blog layout is acting funky and it's showing in the footer. I'll try to fix that later .

Anyway I hope you ladies are doing well!!! You can follow me on instagram, I have been posting frequently there :) username is Nicnacksnails.
