Maybelline Polka Dot Nail Polish: Pretty in Polka

Guess whos nubs are back!? Thats right - My nails are re-gaining their strength and are in much better condition!

For my nail re-introduction I am showing you one of Maybelline's new polishes from the Polka Dot collection. The Polka Dot collection contains 5 Jelly based polishes with black and white hex glitters.
The one I am showing you today is Pretty in Polka. Pretty in Polka is a bright jelly rose shade with large and small hex and circular glitters.

All 5 polishes are very reminiscent of Indie polishes such as Connect the Dots by Lynnderella, minus the bar and square pieces. So if you are looking for indie dupes - these provide you with some variety and are really great for layering. They retail for around $4, so the price is right too.

In this photo I am wearing Pretty in Polka over America Apparel's Dynasty - a dusty purple shade.

Have you tried the Maybelline Polka Dots Show Colors?

Emily De Molly Somber Party

Happy Friday Eve! Today I have an indie polish to show you guys from my Llarowe order.
If you are unfamiliar with Llarowe or any other indie brands I highly suggest taking a look at her store.

This polish is by Emily de Molly and it's called Somber Party. Somber Party is a light grey purple with pink purple micro glitters.
I was able to get this opacity with two some what thick coats. This polish was really easy to work with. I didn't have issues with goopy-ness, texture or anything - it was a very smooth application.
Emily de Molly has many many gliter polishes that I will be stocking up on with my next Llarowe order.

Thanks for stopping by!

Revlon Colorstay Provence

I have been in the mood for some pale shades recently and discovered this gem from the Revlon Colorstay nail polish line. (They also have a really nice pale yellow shade called Buttercup that I have my eye on). This shade is called Provence - a very muted pale purple creme.
This formula is pretty nice (maybe just a tad thick), I was able to achieve this in 2 coats.

Do you own and/or love any of the shades form the Revlon Colorstay Range?

The best glitters in life are free...

Happy Hump day everyone :) I have a quick swatch for you tonight. I am meeting family out for dinner in a few.
The other night I was in a rush to get ready and didn't want to leave my house naked....my nails of course. I slapped on one coat of Zoya's Reagan polish and added a glitter that I received in a swap for free! It is a LA Color Craze glitter. I cannot find the name of the color for the life of me!

KBShimmer Diva

Hello ladies. How are you enjoying your Sunday? I have a plan to just sit around, read and clean all day! This week is going to be a little crazy for me. I am flying across the country from Jersey to Cali on Thursday for work. I will return Sunday so hopefully I get a post or two in before I leave.

Today I have an indie polish for you! This is KBShimmer's Diva. I layered it over OPI's Funky Donkey. I know most people use Diva on it's own but it seemed a bit thick, even after shaking the bottle generously and I knew i would probably need three layers.

Diva is a grape jelly base with silver, aqua, and pink holo glitters.
If you love purple, this is definitely a winner!

China Glaze Marry a Millionaire

Ah, tomorrow is hump day! Ever since I started my job in January I have not had as much me time as I would like - aka paint my nails and relax time! I work 8:30 to 7 most days and by the time I get home from the gym I am pooped! All I want to do is read blog posts haha

China Glaze had the right idea - Marry a Millionaire. No work, just nails :) I bought this polish sometime around the holidays and tried it on its own. My mistake - I really dislike wearing glitters on their own so this time I layered Marry a Millionaire over Model's Own Pure Purple. I enjoyed the results of this much better!

American Apparel Dynasty w*LA Color Glitter

Hi ladies. I hope your weekend went better than mine did. My SO and I of four and a half years are taking some time apart :( This weekend is one of the most painful I have had to go through. All I can do is hope for the best.

I don't want to go on sobbing and bombard this post with negativity so moving on! I have been going through my stash and past blog posts so I can determine what polishes have not been featured on my blog yet. American Apparels Dynasty is one of them. I only have three AA polishes but I love the formula of every single one of them. They are so creamy, opaque, and one coat will do just the trick if you are in a bit of a rush.
Dynasty is a creamy light purple shade which I topped with a nameless L.A. Colors Color Craze glitter that I received as an extra in a swap!
I love the combo of these two polishes together!
Thanks for looking.

Parlez Vous OPI & a small haul

This was a polish I searched to swap for because I thought it looked great on everybody else. I am unsure about how I feel about it on my skintone. Don't get me wrong this is a really pretty color, I am just not sure it's right for me. I think it looks a lot dustier on me than it does on others. The fomula was nice, a little on the thick side but it wasn't too hard to deal with.
I ended up putting a stamp on it using China Glaze's IDK. The number of the plate escapes me but if anyone asks I can get the number for you. It was very subtle but I like it that way :)

Also a week or two ago I was on MUA from my phone and saw all of tis talk about Lynderellas being back up on her site. By the time I got to ordering the only one that was still in stock was this gorgeous green glitter, I Can Afford It. I didn't want to pass it up so I put it in my cart along with another Glitter Gal I had my eye on!

Thanks for looking!

OPI DS Extravagance

Hey girls. I have a really quick post before I go to bed! I felt like wearing another holo again today so I put on a polish I wasn't crazy about the first time. OPI's DS Extravagance is obviously one of their Designer Series polishes. While many of the other DS shades are hard to get a hold of this one has been at my Ulta for a while so check yours out if you don't already have it!

Extravagance is a berry/wine glittery very subtle scattered holographic polish.
The application and clean up of this was super easy! It is a pretty opaque polish and looked amazing after 2 coats. I am definitely loving this the second time around! The only disappointment is that it chipped pretty quickly, but all holos do so I am not holding that against it!
Thanks for looking!

Some sort of Holo...

Over the summer I ordered two China Glaze Kaleidoscope polishes from a blog sale. I purchased He's Going in Circles and Kaleidoscope Him Out. The seller had two versions of Kaleidoscope, a blue and a periwinkle kind of shade. I tried to research if anyone else had come across a dud, or different version of this polish. I found diddly squat but decided to order it anyway since it wasn't expensive. I also am wondering if it's a franken that she just tried to pass off as a real ChG - pretty shitty on her part but it's too late to do anything about it now and it is still a really pretty polish.

Regardless I think it is a very pretty polish and actually pretty unique. This is three coats. Two would have been sufficient but I always do 3 coats of holos for extra umph!

Indoor Flash

Outdoor No Flash

I was going to do a stamp over this but was going through Chloe's Nails blog and came across her checkered tutorial and decided to give it a go!

I used China Glaze's Secret Periwinkle. I love the combo!

Thanks for looking!

Finger Paints Special Effect Twisted

My first nail polish purchase of the year was Finger Paints Twisted!
It was the only one I bought from the collection because I could live without the others haha.
I am really trying to save because this years Spring collections look amazing. Between ChG's Hunger Games, OPI's Holland, and Zoya's True and Fleck Collection my collection is going to grow significantly! And I hate to say this but I feel flakies are going to fade out just like the crack did when every brand started to create their own.

Anyway I am going to enjoy my flakies while I still can! This is Twisted over OPI's Funky Donkey. For some reason I have trouble capturing the greatness of flakies, even out in the sun.
These are the best images I could get of it.
Twisted was the most interesting to me IMO. It has multiple flecks in it, blues, greens, red, orange. It's just beautiful. I wanted to be different and stay away from applying it over black but I do realize now I need to apply it over a much deeper shade in order for all of the pretty colors to show through.

Did you purchase any of the flakies!?

Thanks for looking <3

Essie Sexy Divide

I have had this polish in my purse for about a month now and only just got around to using it.
This is my first post Christmas mani! I borrowed it from my friend a while ago because every time we go nail polish shopping I pick it up and look at it and put it back. Why do we do this to ourselves? One day she found it in her NP storage so she lent it to me.

Unfortunately it is a little difficut to capture it's true color. The sun is not out today so I had to make do with indoor lighting :( In these photos the purple is much more apparent due to the flash. It is much deeper in real life.

It took crummy lighting to capture the true color of this beautiful purple polish!

Thanks for looking <3

Models Own Pure Purple

Well hello! Hope you all had a great weekend. Are you American's as eager for Thanksgiving as I am?? I have family coming on Wednesday and will be prepping until then -buying pies and yummy treats!

Today I have another mani inspired by a photo I found on pinterest.
I used Models Own Pure Purple, which I won from OMGPolishEm's give away ages ago!
I wish i had more access to Models Own polishes. Their formula is amazing.
The two cremes I have tried so far have been so opaque, apply evenly, and wear fairly well.
I added a stripe of OPI's It's My Year to give it a little sparkle :)
As you can see I ended up with a different look due to all the little glitters, and not many hex glitters, but I love it just the same.

Purple Polka Dots

To my very pleasant surprise, I received a nail parcel in my mail yesterday.
I had no recollection or ordering anything from online recently, nor had
I had planned any swaps!
Months ago I received a twitter message from Booty Babe telling me I received a free
nail polish! I finally got it yesterday and luckily my nails were nakie so I did a little something
with it.

I haven't done nail art in so long so I just did a simple polka dot mani with my Booty Grape polish and a black nail polish by Finger Paints.

OPI It's My Year

A couple of weeks ago a Beauty Supply shop closed down! They had a clearance sale but there wasn't much left that I felt I needed. On my way out the owner made sure I knew about the
other location a town away from me. I was relieved!

The next week I took a look at the other store, Lux, and was so excited to see the Miss Universe collection from OPI. There were 2 I knew I had to have so I grabbed It's My Year and Crown Me
Already.
It's My Year has a purple jelly base with gold foil and glitters.
It may be one of the prettiest polishes I own.
I used 3 coats for this. The application was really nice. Initially I used 2 coats, which was fine,
but it looked a little patchy when I took photos so I added a third.
This polish even looks nice in the shade when the gold really shimmers through!

L.A. Girls Glitter Addict Euphoria

I have been on a glitter kick recently. After the Kleancolor sale I still craved more glitter.

I ended up putting in an order to Cherry Culture for some L.A Girls and NYX glitters.

I read so many good things about the Glitter Addicts that I had to try them for myself!

After trying Euphoria I can say they definitely are worth raving about.

I applied Euphoria, a purple glitter, over a yellow creme - I really liked the combo!

I originally had it over purple but the glitters didn't stand out as much as I wanted them to.

The Glitter Addict polishes are small hex glitters mixed with some bigger ones in a clear base.

They applied so nicely! One thing that annoys me about some glitters is that you have to fidget with them in order for you to get them the way you want them to look. That is so not the case with these glitters. The are evenly dispersed on the nail - no effort or fidgeting :)
