August 2013 Beauty Favorites
Hello! I hope the start of your long day weekend is going well for all of you who celebrate labor day! I am sharing my monthly favorites for the official last month of summer. I have so many mixed feelings about this time of year because while I love summer and it makes me sad to see it go, I absolutely love fall! I love the weather, the makeup, the fashion, and of course all the pumpkin flavored goodies! Oh well time will go on and I will proceed with my monthly favs!
I have a few lip products to share so I will begin with those.
I never got in the habit of using a lip liner but I purchased NYX's lip liner in Nude Pink to help even out my lips and provide a base for my lipsticks. It goes well under any lipstick and helps in making my lipstick last longer than it normally would. Nude pink it just slightly lighter than my natural lip color which is great because it helps which ever lipstick i apply go on more true to color.
When I was planning on a night out in August, I would reach for Revlon's Just Bitten Kissable LipBalm Stain. I have the shade Sweetheart Valentine which is a vibrant pink. I love this because it's a very light weight product but it still provides your lips with a little bit of moisture. The Just Bitten Kissable LipBalm's have a slight sheen to them. As far as the staying power of the color - I would say I get about 3 hours out of it.
NYX Lip Butter Gloss in Peaches and Cream is a really pretty bright pink shade. I have been doing really simple eyes this month any playing up either my cheeks or lips. I like wearing Peaches and
Cream for a pop of pink.
I have been experimenting with a couple of concealers recently but Tarte's Maracuja Creaseless Concealer has been a favorite of mine this month. It is the most cream and moisturizing concealer that provides my under eye with a dewey finish. It stays put all day without creasing - full review here!
My blush of choice this month was Chanel's JC Blush in In Love - this I purcased off e bay. It was an authentic sample but I did not really care. I actually did not care for it the first few times I used it but it has really grown on me. There are photos and swatches here
For mascara I have really enjoyed Maybelline's The Rocket. It provides nice volume and applies so easily! I have a full review of this mascara here
I included my MAC MSFN in this months favorites becuase I recently ran out and thought I would try something new. I ended up returning what I purchased because it just did not provide the flawless finish the MAC MSFN does for me. I wear the shade Medium plus for NC20. MAC's MSFN is really light weight and lasts all day. I find myself touching up about after 7 hours.
Those are my August favorites! Thanks for stopping by and feel free to share some of your monthly favs in the comments below :)

MAY 2013 Favorites
And another month goes by and we are 6 months from Christmas. How crazy is that LOL. Okay I don't want to get so ahead of ourselves so I will go on with my favorites !
I purchased the Paul Mitchell Deep Cleansing Shampoo at a beauty supply store for $7 when my hair had that 'it needs to be cut 'feel. I don't know if you ladies can relate, but my hair can tell when it's ready to be trimmed. It doesn't feel clean when I wash it, it has build up, and the ends don't cooperate when I style my hair The Paul Mitchell Deep Cleansing Shampoo really helped my hair look and feel clean. The shampoo washed the buildup away and my hair looked healther than it actually was . This shampoo also has a nice lemony scent to it which I love also.
tarte tipsy blush: Aside from this being a beautiful blush, Tarte's products are cruelty free which is a major plus for me.
Tarte's Amazonian Clay Blush in Tipsy is a stunning matte coral shade that lasts all day. I went away to Dewey Beach a couple of weeks ago and this was the only blush I packed. It lasts all day, is totally bendable, and the color is just stunning! (full review to come)
NYX Cherry Cheese Cake Lip Butter Gloss - this opaque orange lip gloss has been pairing perfectly with the tipsy tarte blush. These non sticky, buttery glosses feel really smooth on the lips and are really comfortable to wear. The orange shade is rally great for summer as well. You can read some more about the NYX butter glosses here
Bath and Body Works White Citrus Body Lotion - I hadn't been in a bath and body works in, probably years, until recently. I was looking for a citrusy lotion and I found the White Citrus to be perfect. The scent has a hint of grapefruit and lemon and is not overpowering whatsoever! The Triple Moisture Body Cream leaves my skin felling really nice and smooth without that greasy feeling some lotions leave behind.
Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Concealer in Neutralizer - I did purchase this when every blogger was raving about it and frankly, I did not like it at all and had no idea what the hype was about. However, I gave it another chance and think it was a matter of me using it improperly. Anyway, now that I am getting enough product out of the tube I am enjoying it much more. I find it lasts all day and does not crease! The neutralizer shade is a great shade because it conceals and brightens under my eyes.
Real Techniques Powder Brush - I love this brush when I don't want to buff a bunch of powder on my face with a kabooki. The Real Techniques powder brush is really nice and fluffy. The bristles area so soft and it applies powder really nicely to set my makeup

FOTD: Using past favorites
Hi girls, Happy Memorial Day Weekend!
First off just let me say sorry for not posting any nail posts. My nails have been in awful shape and I am trying to get them back to the standards that I want in order to post :)
Anyway, I have not really done a face of the day yet and wanted to show you guys what I have been wearing pretty much everyday with the exception of my lip color. A lot of these products you will recognize from my fast few monthly favorites. I have been really obsessed with creating super white inner corners of my eyes and translating it to the middle of my lid. I think it helps me look even more 'awake' and bright. I accomplish this by using my mac painterly paint pot and using Wet N Wild's Brule all over my lid. Brule is a few shades lighter than my skintone. For my inner corners NYX's Jumbo Eye Pencil in Milk is a great way to brighten up the inner corner. To line my eyes I used L'Oreal's liner intense felt tip liner and applied a few coats of L'Oreal's million lashes mascara.
For my foundation I am wearing my new favorite base - Revlon's Colorstay Whipped. I have grown to love this even more than my Nars, which I have been using for 3 years. The wear time on this foundation is amazing and I find it gets better as the day goes on. I do have a post on this but I do ahve to say that I recently wore it to my sister's graduation this past week in 85 degree weather, and it held up! amazing. I always set it with my Mac MSFN!
On my cheeks I am still obsessing over Mac's Cream Soda Blush.
Recently, I have been wearing brighter lip colors, but in this photo I have on Mac's Shy Girl lipstick and Revlon's lipgloss in Peach Petal

The Best of: Spring and Summer Lip Products
As the temperature rises, my lips get brighter! Right now, the drugstore has some amazing products that make me question whether I need to purchase another high end lipstick ever again.
I get a lot more brave in the summer with brighter lipsticks/glosses..
Since everyone has been talking about the Revlon Lip Butter's I will start with those and get them out of the way! The lip butters are great for summer because they have a hydrating formula. I have two of the new colors - Juicy Papaya and Wild Watermelon. The pigmentation of these two are a little different -Juicy Papya is pretty sheer and needs a bit of layering to bring out it's warm peach/coral shade. I like to layer one sheer coat of wild watermelon so it looks like a red stain. The lip butters have a shiny finish and are really comfortable to wear. Revlon lip butters
The Maybelline Vivids are also really popular, with good reason. My go to shade this summer will definitely be Shocking Coral. The formula on these lipsticks is so amazing and the color range is great. I have a full post on the Vivids here.
NYX butter lip glosses are very pigmented glosses and feel really smooth once applied. I have two shades: Peaches and Cream and Cherry Cheese Cake, which is bizarre because the shade is orange. The texture of these butter glosses is really creamy. One coat gives a nice pop of color, but you can build these up to look really opaque. NYX's butter glosses have a decent lasting power, a couple of hours or so.
Finally, I am including a Victoria Secret Beauty Rush Sunset Kiss gloss in Orange Rush. I picked up on a whim the other day. I loved the ombre effect in the bottle and purchased it! Orange Rush is a sheer gloss with gorgeous gold shimmer in it. It is a little thick for my liking - but a gorgeous gloss nonetheless.
Swatches Left to Right: Maybelline Shocking Coral, Revlon Jusy Papaya, Wild Watermelon, NYX Peaches and Cream, Cherry Cheese Cake, Victoria Secret Sunset

February Favorites 2013
March is here and we are one step closer to spring :) I am surprised I got this post done in time considering there were only 28 days to February! Allow me to get started
Eyes and Cheeks:
Wet n' Wild Brule: This is the my lids but better eyeshadow I have been looking for! It has been sold out pretty much every time I go to search for it in any drugstore. I finally found it at a CVS and I am already regretting not purchasing a bunch of backups. It is a creamy nude tone color that matches my skin tone perfectly. I have been using this as a wash of color all of my lid and then something like Soft Brown or Wedge by Mac in the crease for a simple everyday - work look.
Mac Blush Cantaloupe - This is one of Macs Pro shades that I received in a swap. It does not look like much in the pan by any means but on my NC20 skintone it gives a really nice neutral flush.

L'Oreal Colour Caresse Shine Stains - I am going to do a proper review on this product very soon but I had to share this today because I have but I have been wearing this all month! These are especially good for going out at night when I don't have room in my wristlet for any sort of lip product. I swipe some on before I head out at it lasts a good portion on the night! After the gloss fades it leaves a nice color stain on your lips. I have the shade Rose On and On - a wearable pink shade.

Lip Combo Alert - NYX Pumpkin Pie + Laura Mercier Lip Glace Bare Naked: A nude combo I have been loving. Bothe of these products are amazing enough on their own but together they look so nice. They can be seen work together here

Nyx Jumbo Pencil in Milk - This was a product I rediscovered this month. I really disliked this product when I first bought it. I wore it as a base but it creased terribly on me. This month I have been only wearing this in my inner corner to brighten my eyes up and I find it works really well for this purpose!
Queen Helene Scrub I was looking for a new exfoliator and I came across this in the drugstore - Honey and Oats Scrub by Queen Helene. It's such a successful scrub because unlike most other scrubs I have used, the ingredient that is actually meant to scrub does not dissolve!! Your not working quickly to scrub each part of your face before the exfoliators disappear on you. I only really use then when I find I have dry patches of skin that I need to scrub away.
My favorite nail polish this month was definitely L'Oreal's Now You Sea Me. I rarely wear the same polish more that 2x in a year let a long in one month! I have a full post on this polish here

Nyx Megashine Lip gloss: Burgundy
If you are a lipgloss fan and don't own any of the NYX Megashine glosses I suggest you go out and buy the range. Well, maybe not not all 61 colors but at least some of your favs! The shade I am showing you today is Burgundy - a nice Burgundy / berry wine color.
This particular gloss has some sparkles in it but nothing noticeable (or gritty feeling on your lips) at all. This gloss has so much shine without the gooey, sticky feeling. The pigmentation is really good as you can see: the photo below is Burgundy on with no liner or lipstick underneath. These babies sell for under $5 as well = great quality lip gloss for a reasonable price!
The color range is from one extreme to another. I believe they have clear gloss and then there are nudes, bright shades, and vampy ones! Some have shimmer while others don't. They pretty much have a gloss for everyone!
Do you own any of the NYX Mega Shine Glosses? What shades do you love?

What's in my Makeup Bag?
Hello girls! Today I am going to share with you what I keep in my makeup bag. These are essentials that I need with me if I know I am going to be out of the house all day.
I use this VS makeup bag - it's a decent size to hold all of my things :)
First things first, powder...
Mac Careblend Powder - There are two things that I must carry around with me. Powder is one of them. I recently switched to the Mac Careblend powder which is much more travel friendly than the MAC MSFN which is another powder I love. The Mac Careblend powder comes in an enclosed case with a mirror and puff. It gives a very natural finish providing light to medium coverage depending on application.
Garnier Tinted Roller Ball - The other essential product I must have with me is THIS concealer. ALWAYS This has been a HG product of mine for the last year or so (will do a proper review of it). I always have this with me if I feel I'm looking tired. It brightens the under-eye area instantly.
Maybelline Full N' Soft - my all time favorite Mascara. I can apply this throughout the day with out brushing through dry crusty mascara that result in clumpy lashes

Spot Concealer - recently I have been carrying around the NYX HD photogenic concealer. But I do have a few on rotation in case my concealer wears off throughout the day.
Rimmel Special Eyes Pencil Eyeliner - For nights when I go out I always carry black eyeliner. I use Rimmel's Pencil liner. I feel I need it to intensify a look even more throughout the night.
Lipstick - I always carry with me whatever lipstick/gloss combo I have at the moment. However, I always have Mac's High Tea lipstick on me. It's the perfect shiney nude lipstick for me and it goes with a variety of looks! I have also recently been carrying with me my Revlon Lip Butter in Creme brulee
Mac Ricepaper e/s - this is a shimmer nude that if I feel I need it, swipe across my lid (with my finger) to brighten up my eyes

FOTD: Warm and Neutral
Hello Girls - Another beauty post from the weekend! Solent to the giants game yesterday so I just did a something warm and neutral. I never really venture out TOO much with my eyes, I usually keep them really simple. If anything I am more experimental with bolder lips and cheeks. But for this look I kept everything really warm.

NYX Ink Heart & Kleancolor Chunky Holo Teal
Well hello, I hope everyone is having a great weekend. Mine has been pretty relaxing. Went out to Mexican on Friday night, made dinner (Tuscan Garlic Chicken) last night for my SO and was pretty productive today! One of the many things that got done were my nails of course. On Twitter I mentioned that I did a manicure combining NYX's Ink heart and Kleancolor's Chunky Teal Holo that was inspired by Like A Candy Shop. I highly recommend her blog. Her blogs and nubs are one of my favs!
NYX's Ink heart is a polish I always reach for. I used it for one of my Christmas Mani's and my Peacock mani. It is the perfect deep blue jelly. Anyway, I saw that Elsa topped off a nacy creme from Kleancolor with Chunky Holo Blue and instantly wanted to recreate it. I LOVE the end result! I haven't used my Chunky Holo nearly as much as I should but will after this I will definitely be utilizing it more!
What are your favorite Chunk Holo combinations?

Walking in a Winter Wonderland
Only 11 days left until Christmas and I have all of these Christmas mani ideas running through my head!
I took another shot at a freehand Christmas manicure. Unfortunately, the only nail art brush I have was a bit
too thick for the snow flake I attempted. I just purchased some brushes at Sally's today though!
For this mani I used NYX Ink Heart as a base color and dotted on some snow with Color Club's Alabaster
My right snowflake turned out a little bit better
Thanks for looking :)

OPI Black Cherry Chutney + NYX Gilded Glitter
You know that feeling when you loose the internet for a few days and then you have it back and it's like the best feeling in the world? Yeah, that's what I'm feeling right now.
I had a power outage and in the process of fixing my electricity the electric co. cut my cable and internet wire!
So, I am back now with one of my new favorite fall/winter polishes: OPI's Black Cherry Chutney. It is a vampy, blackened cherry red with shimmer. A lot of the photos of this polish
I saw on line looked like it was a lot more red but it looks much darker on me.
The next day I added some gilded glitter after seeing this combo on makeupalley
Finally, I used a Essie's Matte about you. I have had this since the summer and am only
just using it now for the first time.
